NSSSP Primary Sportshall Final (South)

Following report from yesterday's South Final. One of the best atmospheres surrounded the South Final at this year's Sportshall Athletics Finals at Priory School. Teams from Bournville, Herons Moor, Hutton, Sidcot and St Martins showed tremendous support for their team mates, and the relays in particular were encouraged vociferously. Thanks need to be given to Priory School for hosting the event, the excellent Year 10 Leaders whose efficiency ensured the event ran smoothly, and the sponsors, North Somerset AC who handed all finallists an Athletics Goodie Bag as reward for their efforts. The top three teams were separated by just 9 points, showing how important the small things are in determining final positions. Watching the track events unfold can be deceptive, and so it turned out. St Martins boys were top team in the relays and Sidcot girls were tops in their category. However it was Herons Moor who finished second in boys and girls who were staking their claim quietly for the title. The field events are worth 50% of the team score, and Herons Moor were top of the tree across a range of these. They were particularly outstanding in the Standing Long Jump with a points score of 29 out of a possible 30. Final Scores were as follows;

  1. Herons Moor     262
  2. St Martins        256
  3. Sidcot              253
  4. Bournville         194
  5. Hutton             156
