Year 9 and 10 Sportshall Athletics
An unprecedented 9 schools entered teams in the year 9/10 sportshall athletics event hosted at St Katherines School. With only an hour and 45 mins to get through all the track and field events, the pressure was certainly on. However, due to the fantastic attitude of the competing athletes and the hardwork of St Katherines sportsleaders and supporting staff from the respective secondary schools, the event was completed, results collated and scores shared by the 6pm deadline.
The four competitions finished as follows:
Year 9 Girls: Gordano 235 (1st), Backwell 208 (2nd), Sidcot 195 (3rd), Nailsea 188 (4th) and St Kath's 164 (5th)
Year 9 Boys: Backwell 220 (1st), Gordano 210 (2nd), Nailsea 193 (3rd), Sidcot 189 (4th), Hans Price Academy 156 (5th) and St Kaths 155 (6th)
Year 10 Girls: Backwell 242 (1st), Clevedon 232 (2nd), Worle 161 (3rd)
Year 10 Boys: Backwell 219 (1st), Priory 194 (2nd), Nailsea 191 (3rd), Clevedon 177 (4th), Gordano 169 (5th), Hans Price Academy 109 (6th) and Worle 32 (7th: only one athlete)
Congratulations to all competitors and winning teams! There was some exceptional talent on show yet again!
Thank you to St Katherines for hosting such a fantastic event!
A special thanks also to Mr Dave Turner (Mr Sportshall) for all his hardwoek on the track and for the many hours he puts in before and after the events. Also, a big thank you to Miss George Ball for managing to collate all results within a minute of the last race finishing and for ensuring all paperwork was in place prior to the event!
